The challenge

An intimate NYC restaurant needed to balance atmosphere with operational efficiency. Every design decision had to serve both guest experience and back-of-house flow without sacrificing seating capacity, circulation, or service speed.

The approach

We reworked the floor plan to improve table spacing, streamline server pathways, and eliminate bottlenecks during peak service. Material choices were intentional and performance-driven — durable, easy-to-maintain finishes on high-touch surfaces, layered textures and warm lighting to encourage guests to linger. A mix of ambient, task, and accent lighting defines distinct zones (bar, dining, entry) while keeping the space photograph-friendly.

Services delivered

  • Floor-plan redesign for service flow
  • Material & finish specification
  • Layered lighting design
  • Adaptive seating configurations

Design story

In a small restaurant, layout is everything. By aligning design with daily service realities, the space now functions as seamlessly as it looks — intimate yet efficient, elevated without being over-designed.

"Clarity and intention matter most in a small footprint."
